How to practise effectively
Separate the aim from your first idea
Before calculating, restate the problem and identify the actual objective. A plausible route is not automatically the best plan.
Check the arithmetic and units
Speed, distance and time mistakes can undermine otherwise good reasoning. Check minutes against hours, round up capacity requirements and account for explicitly required breaks.
Make assumptions visible
Distinguish facts from estimates. Ask which resources, dependencies or alternative routes would change your decision. We provide arithmetic feedback, not an assessment of the quality of your leadership or judgement.
Explain and defend the decision
Compare at least two reasonable options. Make a clear recommendation, state its trade-offs and identify a fallback. Reviewing a scenario without an instructor is not equivalent to assessed group practice.
