Official information takes precedence. This is an independent explanatory guide, not military recruitment advice, medical clearance or a guarantee of success. Follow the source for your actual role and selection stage.

Read the assessment named in your current RAF instructions

The Defence Aptitude Assessment is not automatically the same thing as computer-based aptitude testing for certain RAF officer or specialist pathways. Different roles have different public assessment requirements. A commercial product claiming to prepare applicants for every RAF assessment should explain exactly what it covers.

Start with the official RAF role description and the invitation issued for your application. The RAF's DAA familiarisation remains the primary source for named DAA ability areas and current instructions.

Independent reasoning can build ordinary skills

Practice can improve comfort with verbal and numerical problems, speed-and-work-rate arithmetic, logical comparisons, spatial thinking and other basic skills named in publicly described domains. Use independently authored examples rather than seeking protected exam questions or scoring keys.

An on-device original RAF-related quiz can show where your errors arise, but a third-party score cannot establish your actual role suitability or pass mark.

Distinguish content coverage from claims of fidelity

Ask a preparation provider whether its material is meant for DAA, CBAT or a clearly identified related ability. Does it provide original practice? How often does it check official information? Does it state which assessment settings and scoring details are NOT verified?

A product that silently markets DAA arithmetic as CBAT simulation may cost money without meeting your actual need. Current official public descriptions matter more than a broad 'RAF aptitude' label.

Build a practical four-stage learning cycle

Review official familiarisation, take a short round of independent examples, label your errors by reasoning category, then spend time on your least comfortable ordinary skill. Return to a mixed review only after addressing the underlying reasoning gap.

Do not confuse the independent tool's time limit with a guaranteed replica of RAF examination timing. Practise checking arithmetic with consistent units and clearly interpreting the wording given.

Commercial and privacy checks

Confirm an external provider's legal identity, current charges, renewals, cancellation rights and data handling before paying. Never send private candidate identifiers, security-vetting data or medical files to obtain an unofficial test prediction.
